text: Konyak village of Choknyu 10 miles from administered territory and within Mokokchung control area was destroyed by raiders from the Konyak village of Chen and Burmese villages of Law Naukun and Tsawlaw on morning of 27th January (1948). Flames were clearly visible from Wakching. At least four hundred persons were massacred. Longmein is also reported to have been attacked early this morning and set on fire. Full details not yet received. Immediate action is necessary if remaining villages in the control area are to be saved. Wakching itself may also be threatened. Am proceeding to Chinlong tomorrow with two sections. Chinese and American bullets have been recovered from the spot.
