Some such words as "should be visited" seem to have dropped out of the last sentence. Would you please supply them. Would you also please sent me a copy of the Addl. Commissioner's memo no. 25-26 of 2nd April 1946. |

3. The sentence "Longmein refused to accept this unless they are allowed to go to war against Totok" is not very clear. Does it mean that Longmein will raid Totok if they are fined two buffaloes? |

4. The Addl. Deputy Commissioner, is not definite on custom. Is it the custom among the Konyaks of that group for a village attending a funeral ceremony to destroy the crops of the mourners, even to a token extent? One would have thought that it was for the mourners to destroy their own crops as a sign of grief if they wanted to do so. |

5. War between Longmein and Totok obviously cannot be allowed to start again, and the matter must be settled somehow. But I should like to know more about the facts and their meaning in custom. |
