text: The Swamp Tiger in Naga Art.
text: Among the various animals which figure in Naga art the swamp tiger occupies a uniquely important position. This magnificent beast is at present more of a dreaded memory than a living animal, actually. It was said to have haunted the grassy jungles in the river valleys and to have been considerably larger than the ordinary tigers of the hills. Apart from its greater size, it was distinquished by the 'ostrich feather' stripes which marked the back of its head.
