text: When Chuba went out to found the new Tuensang headquarters, in Jan. 1948 [he] spat on a cock - Chuba spat and the owner of the land also spat - offering to the spirit in the land so that they may not harm the camp - and then let the cock go - its crowing also drives away marauding spirits - after that he killed a dog, 'to chase away any evil spirits' - pig killed so that the spirit may bless the site and the head eaten by the gbs. - pig's skull and dog's skull put up in Chuba's house - genna for 30 days - christians not allowed to enter it for this period - or take any food or drink in it (others could eat or drink there). The meat shared with the 14 Tuensang gbs. with a prayer to bless the site.
