letter from Pawsey to Archer about grave effigies and the future of the Konyak area |
text: |
...You are wrong about the grave effigies. They need not be restricted to those who have taken heads. I saw one in Ketsapomi of a headman under 40 who had died last year and they laughed at the idea that he had taken a head. This area has ten villages and five distinct languages, apart from Sema. No wonder all the tribal councils angle for it. |

A long letter from Mills about Konyaks but he does not explain how they could possibly be constitutionally transfered to Tirap. I am writing to him. |
