text: As we neared the village, we passed the grave-yard. The Aos erect a little thatched shed above the grave on which samples of the dead man's possessions are hung - his dao, necklaces and bracelets, his headdress, spear, shield and pipe. Formerly the dead were exposed under this shed, but now, through Christian influence, they bury the body in a shallow grave. Some of the Christian graves had stones with English inscriptions and on one I noticed a picture of a Bible and there was even a hand reaching from a cloud.
