Now that the Delhi delegation has left, Mokokchung seems oddly peaceful. One day is very like another and time drifts placidly by. But although we are far from civilisation we are never lonely.

Our own garden contains almost a village of thatched huts where the servants, young dobashis (or interpreters) and all (25) the small boys who are being trained as interpreters live.
