text: Lungkham is the end of the Ao country; Litami is on the edge of the Sema, and now we are amongst the Lhotas. There is still no news from Delhi.
text: Our march today lay downhill to the River Doyang ending with a stiff climb to the bungalow. By the river the jungle was damp, lush and sultry. In the wet grass were short furry white begonias with a tangerine splash, and pink orchids tall and slender with a crimson pouch. On either side of the path, the bushes were draped with great webs, beaded with rain, in which hung enormous black spiders with yellow spots and knee joints.
