text: At both Yekhum and Sanis the morungs were falling into disrepair and only the posts carved with hornbills and a few wisps of thatch remained. Amongst the Lhotas a morung cannot be rebuilt before nine years have elapsed, but that was not the real cause of the delapidation. Although these villages are by no means wholly Christian, the 'pagans' are falling into a limbo where Christianity has undermined old pride and vigour and yet has not replaced it with anything else. The old life of the morung has died.
