text: | Some of the houses proclaimed the wealth and status of their owners with a semi-circular porch and eave, others with carved posts and proud house-horns. The morungs in particular were well cared for, the sign of a vigorous village life. Tigers, heads, mithan horns and warriors proclaimed the valour of its men on the posts and under the eaves, bamboo swallow-tails swung and tinkled in the wind. |
