text: | All today we halted at Phire-ahire, a Sangtam village, counted it and inspected the school. We played musical arms with the children accompanying the game on the school gong. The Sangtam houses are very like Ao houses, but they are built on the ground and have heavy wooden doors. Only a rich man who has sacrificed a mithan can have a raised platform and bamboo floor to the living room. |
