Towards noon the sky cleared up and we went into the old village of Cheswezumi. There we saw the house of Zinne who had put up the thirty eight menhirs. It has horns on both sides because Zinne once also gave a feast to a neighbouring village. In front of the house stand the posts where the mithan to be sacrificed at gennas are tied up with strong rope-like creeper plants. Leaning against the house stands a forked pole about one metre high with a carved mithan head. Furthermore there are several four-cornered posts leaning against the house, the corners of which are serrated from top to bottom. These, nowadays, are not supposed to have any meaning as a tally but they are only owned by people who have sacrificed mithan SKETCH |
