The way back over a long, sunny hillside (59) and then up through the rice terraces, was rather hot and tiring. The more one has to admire the people who work all day with bent-over backs in their rice fields and who then still have to make the strenuous trip often carrying a heavy load. Close to the summit we drank from a spring which has cool and good water. On the horse trail from Yorobami our ponies were waiting. Mine was in a good mood and I cantered and galloped a good part of the way home to Sathazumi. When we were sitting at dinner suddenly a parrot flew into the room. When I caught it and carried it outside it energetically bit my finger and I had great difficulty to get rid of it. |
