Wakching 11/7/1936. It rained all night long and was still doing so by seven o'clock. Then the rain changed to foggy haze and after eight we could start out on our way to Tan-hai. A narrow path, extremely slippery, first goes through the forest and then steeply downhill, often along steps cut into the ground, over sunny slopes overgrown with tall grass and bushes. Two rest places with big stone seats under the shadows of trees have been set up by morungs. (90) Most of the land here belongs to Wakching. |
