(95) Tamlu 13/7/1936. When we were leaving the bungalow of Wakching at a quarter to eight this morning it rained and was stormy, but the rain stopped soon and from ten onwards we had sparkling sunshine. The trail led past Wakching, rising slightly up towards Wanching, usually with an open view of the hill ridge where Shiong is. Only the last part is steep from one of the springs up to the village. However, during the rainy season the women do not need to bring up their water from here as two long bamboo aqueducts carried over twelve supports brings sufficient water into both khels, but during the cold season the springs which feed them dry up. |
