The men started to drive from above with shrill screams. They hacked away with their daos at the jungle and even at smaller trees. (115) I had climbed onto the bamboo wall from where I had a good vision for camera and revolver and this is where the tiger had to come. I only hoped that the swaying structure would not collapse at an inopportune moment. It did not collapse but neither did the tiger come. Apparently he had found security in time. A great deal of bamboo and many hours of work in the heat of the day had been wasted, but the people still remained cheerful. They seemed to see the whole affair a rather funny event.
