text: He proved to be totally incompetent (145) and now leads a rather desolate existence as I already described on July 12th. Still he receives a rather considerable tribute from fourteen villages (see notebook 2 p.110-112). His influence on the village leadership is nill. Considering the large tribute he gets every year I cannot understand why he does not have the means to give a feast for those people who should build his house for him according to custom. So now he lives in a half dilapidated house while the ancient ground of the Ang house stands empty. The Ang's splendid bed and his elephant tusks therefore are stored temporarily in the Angban morung.
