Wakching 29/7/1936. Went to the Angban morung this morning and in a conversation with Chinkak, the Ang of Wakching, and some old men I discovered that there were some mistakes in yesterdays list. Nowadays there is no one in Wakching in the Ang-yang-ba class and Chinkak himself is only a "small Ang" Ang-ha-ba. This happened as follows. His father Longmei who was a big Ang and had five wives, his main wife Ngen-pi who came from Longkhai and was of pure Ang blood, Ang-yon-pa, had two sons but both died young. That is why after Longmei's death Chinkak inherited his position, the son of a secondary wife with the name Oi from the Ang-ha-ba clan of Chi. |
