(155) Wakching 1/8/1936. As the people are still completely occupied with Blah I could only take a few notes. Totok had sent a representative to talk about the feud with Chui (Chi) and to also settle a quarrel with Wanching. The war with Chi which I already mentioned on July 10th has erupted again and a group of young Totok men recently with guns and daos fell upon some young men from Chi and injured them considerably. The Chi people could flee but some of them are in hospital here. Now Chi requests from the government that Totok be punished, otherwise they will take matters in hand themselves. The Ang and the older men of Totok declare the incident as the action of a few young hot-heads, something they knew nothing about and they are willing to take the guilty to Mokokchung. |
