text: The quarrel with Wanching has the following cause. When a few weeks ago Li-pei the Ang of Chi died, several young people from Wanching went to his funeral and travelled across Totok land. They now claim that Totok men who were working in a field above the trail shot at them and then threw sticks after them. (156) However no one was injured. Totok gives a completely different version. They had not known the intention of the Wanching men and had fired warning shots from a great distance. As statement stands against statement it is not possible to come to any decision yet both parties were ready to state their assertions under oath.
