text: At this time the Ang, Pong-yong, was removed from his position, perhaps because he could not keep order in the village or because he sympathised with the Bala morung from which his wife came. As a small compensation for the loss of his power and income as village Ang, he was made Ang to the remaining Bala people. (159) Longmei from Chi was brought in to be village Ang. (notebook 2). Pong-yong died only a few weeks ago and I photographed his grave (film 17 12).
