A man carried a squealing pig into the Ang's house where it was sacrificed (202) but I did not want to enter uninvited and waited for Ahon who wanted to show me another pig sacrifice. Some leaves of a sort of reed were hanging over the door to Ahon's house and a bunch of them was also fastened to the door post. A few days ago they were a warning sign to strangers not to enter Ahon's house because he was holding the Anak-bu genna. This is a simple ceremony consisting of the separation of the seed millet for next year from the provisions to be consumed. It is kept in earthenware pots in the granary. On this particular day which is chosen individually by every household there is no prohibition on working the fields, but people who do not belong to the family are not supposed to enter the house. |
