text: The morungs of Wanching also have Neang-ba, a position which is inherited. Balang, Bala and Totang share a Neang-ba, the other two morungs have one each. Every Neang-ba has an assistant from his own family. The Neang-bas intervene in the case of divorces. (notebook 5 p. 22 following). Also found out something about illegitimate children. Formerly the girls often had abortions (notebook 5 p. 24 following). All complaints about theft and similar matters are decided on by the Neang-ba and the Ang after the harvest. Before no one has the time. (notebook 5 p. 27). The extent of the fine depends much on the personal relationship between thief and the robbed person. The previous fines paid by his father or other relatives also increase the punishment of a thief.
