(256) The girls are making a kind of millet bread to give to the boys tonight, pounding the rice for flour is permitted. It is only genna to pound the unhusked rice in order to free it from the chaff. In the evening the girls gather in groups in the girls morungs or in the house of a man who has daughters, or on a platform. They sing endless choir chants. The morung boys then go from one such house to the other, also sing some of their dreary songs, and collect the bread. |
