waiting for the rice to fully ripen for harvest |
text: |
The Ou-nie-bu, the ceremonial beginning of the rice harvest, is finished, but only a few of the Wakching people actually start to cut their rice today. Still the fields are already turning golden in the wide valley which opens up towards Chingtang. One can now clearly distinguish the yellow patches of rice fields from the light green underbrush on the fallow land. But people still want to give the rice a few more days to ripen completely and then there is still this and that which needs doing in home and village before the harvest. |
