A beautiful morning which immediately makes up for all the rain. Dzemang suggested that I might accompany him to the fields and I gladly joined him. Only today did it dawn on me why in the big vale which holds most of Wakching's fields, the fields on this side hardly have any taro in between the rice, while the rice fields on the other side of the stream are full of taro and also beans though predominantly the former. These in fact are the newer fields which are always also planted with taro. Between the stream and Wakching on the other hand are the fields which have been planted for two or three years in a row. They are almost exclusively planted with rice. Apparently it grows best during the second year. |
