On a flat area not far from the big chieftain's house (86) three huts are set up. The biggest is a permanent, now repaired, small house for officials who come through. Next to it is a hut for the servants and the kitchen and behind the house is a little shelter put up, of palm leaves, as a bathroom. Even a toilet has been built of palm leaves. Considering this arrangement it was of course unnecessary to set up my tent. I am actually quite well put up in the little house with mats over the bamboo floor. A long bench is a welcome storage and bed and table and chair all have plenty of room. The walls consist of plaited work with rather big openings but as Punkhung is not as cool as Wakching this does not matter. |
