In the afternoon I went to the Ang's house. It doesn't look imposing from the outside but it is extremely long and in its dark chambers there live twenty people who all except for four are of the closer family of the Ang. (104) At each end there is a girls' "morung" but without beds, one for the Ang clan, the other for the Ben girls. All girls spend the night in the houses of their parents, often actually with their recognised lovers who are generally expected to marry them. Ang girls sleep with Ben boys and vice versa. |
