text: In the old days when a new morung drum was pulled into the village it first stayed put in front of the morung and the young men went on a head hunt. When they brought home a head it was tied to the drum, the drum was beaten and they danced. Only then was it pulled into the morung. Reminiscent of this is the custom nowadays of leaving the drum for a few days in front of the morung and then having a feast.
