text: Despite its considerable size Longkhai has only one well to which the women have to climb down far, a major difficulty for the occupants of the houses further away. Through his son who he had sent for opium to Wakching with a letter from me, the Ang last night received the longed for cure for all ailments and today he was a changed man. He worked on my carving with enthusiasm and in the morning he put on his full warrior's regalia (145) in order to be photographed by me.
