text: Wakching 30/10/1936.
text: When I walked through the village in the evening a lot of Chongwe men were gathered at the The-pong morung. They had brought the tribute to the The-pong consisting of husked rice. They received salt in return from the Wakching people. This is a voluntary offering which serves however to keep the tribute system working which otherwise has no real purpose any more in the pacified areas.
