text: Wakching 31/10/1936.
text: Today the gable beam of the The-pong morung was pulled in. That was difficult as it was longer and heavier than the others. So this time the girls were pulling too which gave the work in some respects the character of a pursuit. The order of those pulling on the four rattan ropes was as follows. In front pulled an older man who also said the direction, then came the small boys, after them the small girls. Up to now were only two rattan ropes. Now came the older girls in four rows and after them the majority of young men
text: The main difficulty (172) started when the beam reached the village and came to the ominous corner of the house of the morung Ang. At first there was a group of banana trees in the way and when the young men pulled down the fence and proceeded to cut down the trees too,
text: The building of a morung is apparently always accompanied with much excitement and disagreements. Finally, after a platform had been demolished, a house wall bent in and a small bit of the pole had been cut off, it was possible to bring it around the critical corner. Afterwards there were no more particular difficulties.
