First we marched through the village of Mokokchung where all inhabitants were out on their platforms looking at the rare spectacle of our departure. (182) The gaonburas offered us madhu and the entire train was stopped while we drank. After two miles on the way to Mongsemyimti our path branched off to the right and moved along a slope down into the Dikhu Valley. Now the Dikhu is no longer the border as is shown on the map but for several years now some Sangtam villages are under the administration, among them Chare, our goal for today. The Chare people had done a fishing excursion in the Dikhu River for us and the catch was quite satisfying |
