text: Already we can see the village on a mountain precipice, its unusually high gables forming a silhouette against the sky. Still quite far from the village we are met by Chingmak and the other chieftain, once rivals but now related through two marriages and at peace. Chingmak is an old friend of Mills and he was genuinely happy to see him again. In the excitement he hardly had eyes for his little son who had come with us from Mokokchung where he is at school.
