bamboo houses and mithan carvings |

While all of this destruction goes on around me I am looking around for ethnologically interesting matters. The houses are fairly poor buildings with simple palm-leaf covered gabled roofs. There seem to be no shingle covered roofs in Pangsha. Bamboo is the prevailing building material. They lack strong house posts as the Konyak use them for their houses. The houses are at ground level but some have small platforms on low poles. Near the lower end of the khel is a building which obviously is the morung. The gable is higher and steeper, the front completely open. |
