rice harvesting methods; marching up hill |
text: |
Before sunrise we cautiously climb up the steep fields where there still are job's tears standing and the tall red millet which gives sufficient cover. In between there are small fields with rice from which the grains have already been pulled off. Apparently the Pangsha people reap the rice like the Sema by pulling the grains off by hand. We had seen a lot of rice in baskets yesterday in Pangsha which was in so far surprising as we assumed that this was millet country without much rice. |
