language of Pangsha and Himbu |
text: |
The language of Pangsha is different both from Noklak and from Himbu. The Pangsha people do not have a tribal name of their own but call themselves after their village. Himbu is entered on the map as Ponyo (8) which seems to be the correct name. The language of Himbu seems to be totally separate from the dialects of Pangsha, Noklak and Panso and others which are grouped as Kalyo-Kengyu. The Himbu group supposedly includes the villages Longao, Chingpan, Lakhang and Haikwam, none of which is one the map. |
