text: The narrow gate is only behind this living fortification and from it one enters an equally narrow street. Small houses are to the left and right, all closely together with hardly more than a few square metres of open space in front of the door, often with a fence around as well. The entire village is like a foxes lair. In its labyrinth of passages every enemy has to lose his way hopelessly.
