There are three clans in Panso, Miho-hai, Shiu-hai and Lam-hai, which are exogamous. There also seems to exists the tendency to take a wife from the other khel although these clans are distributed over both khels. (29) Unlike the Chang the people of Panso are strictly monogamous and they pay no bride price. The latter supposedly has the effect that marriages are easily dissolved and the women run away from their husbands as frequently as those leave their wives. Of course such generalizing statements are always to be taken with caution especially when they are made by translators from another tribe. |
