marriage exchanges between warring villages |
text: |
Panso and Yukao stand in connubium to each other and Panso men also marry Kalyo Kengyu but not Chang women from Chingmei. But occasionally the Chang men of Chingmei take women from Panso and Chingmak's first wife comes from here. Nevertheless there is a state of war between the two villages in a way as it happens occasionally in civilised nations between men and the families of their wives, yet during our presence Chingmak and his sons seemed to get on excellently with the people of Panso and we also visit the house of his closest relatives. |
