(64) Passed the village of Longmisa where a whole row of pots with madhu was awaiting the thirsty throats of our coolies, the path wound on towards Chuchu-Yimbang. Here as well as in Longmisa the village had a pig waiting which Nakhu as the oldest and most distinguished of the Naga killed with the lower end of his spear. According to Ao customs this is the way to greet a troup of warriors returning home. Mokokchung also had tied up a pig and had prepared plenty of rice beer. Not without delight I welcome the little bit of civilization in Smith's bungalow and we ate so much of the excellent lunch that afterwards we could hardly move. |
