text: I took the pony on to Merankong and then sent it back to Chantongia with the syce so that tomorrow it reaches Mokokchung. In Merankong I wanted to wait for Pungwei but as he and the other Konyaks did not come I accompanied a Kanching man, who also by coincidence was in Merankong, to his village. There Pungwei and his companions caught up with me.
