In the late afternoon suddenly a group of Wakching boys from the Balang morung appear to ensure a part of the skull for themselves. Only this morning the Wanching gaonbura had sent messages to Wanching and Wakching and the Balang people seemed to have rushed over to Tamlu immediately. They did not want to know anything about my suggestion of spending the night here and walk with me to Wakching tomorrow, instead they ran back to Wakching the same evening. Some Namsang boys also asked for a piece. There was a scene involving the gaonbura of Wanching because the piece of skull intended for him had mysteriously disappeared and I offered him as a substitute a piece of the back of the skull. Finally I had to cut into the second head and divide the precious pieces of the face between Wanching and Wakching, keeping a particularly good piece for the latter. |
