Each of the processions danced for a brief while on this space and then turned towards its own morung. (When they reached it the women brought water with which the men and boys washed themselves "to rinse off the blood".) There the clan elder tied the basket with the head to the drum and the boys started to beat it immediately. Only in the evening the head was fastened to one of the main posts inside the morung and almost all night long the boys were dancing around it, while now the girls and young women beat the drum. (88) The old people, both men and women, were watching the dance in the morung. I did not see this dance myself but I clearly heard the drum. |
