Naga villages in the plains of Assam |
text: |
Even today (as I now heard for the first time), there are two Naga villages on the plain, one near Nazira and the other between Similaguri and Sibsagar. The inhabitants of these villages, Dzing-ang and Hata, are supposed to have kept Konyak language and dress and sometimes come to Kongan and even Wakching. They even have morungs in the usual Konyak style. On the other hand they grow rice in irrigated fields and supposedly even use cattle for labour. The weather is still uncertain. This afternoon it was even hailing. |
