setting off for Shiong for head receiving ceremony |
text: |
Already several days ago Ahon had told me that today the final ceremony concerning the Pangsha heads would be held in Shiong, so I had decided to go to Shiong and early in the morning even a messenger arrived to remind me. Following the rainy weather of the last few days it was a splendid morning. Now the distinction between cultivated land and old fallow jhum fields is more obvious than ever, as while on the latter tall grass and reed with silvery tops are swaying, the fields which have been prepared for the planting are monotonous brown areas, only occasionally framed by yellow or reddish jungle where the flames had gone beyond the intended area. Although the sun shines from a virtually cloudless sky it is not hot and the short walk to Shiong is shere pleasure. |
