(19) When the Longokoa boys had crawled through the bamboo frame they first rushed to the drum of the Wang-hemba and played on it and then went on to their own. The Wang-hem-ba boys only beat the one of their morung, however there is no more dancing. Finally the boys and some young men of each morung go from house to house and with sticks and daos they hit the roof above each door. I could not quite discover what the purpose of this custom is but it is part of the head-hunting ceremony. At night the men of each morung will get together and finish the day eating and drinking. |
