text: Without further ado the Ang then told me what kind of songs the men had sung in the morung, (Notebook 8 p. 185) and as these were about the Ang, Tunie, the more or less mythical founder of Longkhai, the idea is that the village and morung foundation is symbolically reenacted and that therefore no stranger may enter the morung. In the chant it is said that Tunie was a blacksmith and in this respect the present Ang is his worthy successor.
