text: Suddenly during the night I was woken up by drum beating and singing in the Ang morung. I looked at my watch and saw that it was five in the morning. Without too much curiosity I turned over and soon went back to sleep despite the drumming. Later I heard from Yongang that the Longkhai men had already said in advance that for this nocturnal occasion neither he nor I would be allowed to enter the morung, but it probably does not concern special secrets but a general prohibition in this night on strangers entering the morung, as it is also prohibited for strangers to the village to immediately enter a new house.
