At first the sun is still shining for a few moments (73) but the older women who always are standing around the dancers make it difficult to photograph. These mothers are in no way different from the mothers at the balls of former times. Every few moments they have to correct something in their daughter's hairdo or ornaments. Here the braid is not quite in order, there a necklace has moved out of position. No one but they can notice these mishaps and their continuous concern about the dancers' appearances seems a bit ridiculous. The girls have nothing against being photographed while dancing and when I squat down in front of them they dance towards me with laughter and full of particular spiritedness. |
